(Tazetta daffodil)
Narcissus Falconet is a wonderfully fragrant multi-flowered variety recommended for borders, cut flowers, and pot cultivation.
Species from 1979 (Grant E. Mitsch, Oregon, United States)
This species is also a winner of the Award of Garden Merit (AGM), so to speak, the Champions League of bulbs.
The varieties of the Tazetta group originated from crosses of the Mediterranean species Narcissus Tazetta with the robust Narcissus Poeticus (poet's daffodil). They are highly valued, mainly for their fragrant flowers, and the dense clusters of four to even ten flowers per stem.
From bright yellow to creamy and pure white, sometimes adorned with a bright orange crown – daffodils always bring a touch of spring into the home. Not only do daffodils always look very cheerful, some also spread a delightful fragrance that reminds one of spring. Commonly, the daffodil is also known as the Easter lily or Easter flower.
The daffodil is named after the vain hunter in Greek mythology. Narcissus was so in love with his reflection in the water that he eventually drowned in it. That’s why daffodils always look a little down.
