(Glory-of-the-Snow)

Bright blue star-shaped flowers with a white heart. They herald the arrival of spring. A very strong bulb that is highly suitable for naturalizing among perennials and under shrubs, where it quickly multiplies.

Chionodoxa luciliae is native to the Mediterranean region and Asia Minor. The botanical Chionodoxa is derived from the Greek word 'chiōn' (χιών) meaning snow, and 'doxa' (δόξα) meaning opinion, view, honor, fame, glory, pride, or splendor.

Luciliae was the name of the wife of the botanist Pierre-Edmond Boissier who described the species.
