When should I plant flower bulbs?
Spring-flowering bulbs such as tulips, daffodils, and scillas should be planted in the fall, from September to December, before the first frost. Early bloomers like snowdrops and irises should also be planted in the fall. The depth at which you should plant the bulb depends on the size of the bulb. For convenience, use this rule of thumb: bulb thickness x 2.5 = planting depth.
