Botanical Daffodil Tête Bouclé
12 bulbs for € 7.18
(Double daffodil, small-flowered)
New type that has been long awaited and is now finally available, it is the first double Tête à Tête! Beautiful filled flowers. Sometimes also called Tête Deluxe.
The advantage of this type is that the stem is quite strong to support the beautiful double flower.
Type from 2008 (Jan de Winter)
Daffodils that are outside in your garden will wilt after a while. You can then cut off the faded flower. However, you should leave the foliage until it has completely turned yellow. Then you can cut that off as well.
Those who still hesitate at the mention of the word 'bulbs' can have fun with naturalizing bulbs. Naturalizing bulbs are seriously a 'breeze'. Once planted, you hardly have to do anything else, and they bloom richer every year. And even better... they keep multiplying! They produce new bulbs on their own, and many types self-seed.
Daffodils are classified into different categories. The Royal Horticultural Society in London registers all species and describes whether they are wild species or cultivars. The following 12 categories are maintained:
- Trumpet; 1 flower per stem. The trumpet is longer than the petals.
- Large corona; 1 flower per stem. The trumpet is longer than 1/3 of the length of the petals but not longer than the petals themselves.
- Small corona; 1 flower per stem. The trumpet is no longer than 1/3 of the length of the petals.
- Double; 1 or more flowers per stem. Doubling of petals or a double trumpet or both.
- Triandrus; 1 or more flowers per stem. Petals point strongly backward.
- Cyclamineus; 1 flower per stem. Petals point backward. Flower bent downwards in relation to the stem.
- Jonquilla; 1 to 5 flowers per stem. Hollow or funnel-shaped trumpet. Often fragrant.
