Fringed Labrador Tulip
12 bulbs for € 8.15
The Labrador tulip belongs to the Crispa tulip bulb group. Labrador is a relatively new variety.
The fringed form spontaneously emerged around 1930. They are late-blooming tulips, blooming in May and reaching about 40 cm in height.
The color of the Labrador tulip bulb flower is deep purple.
After the tulip blooms, the bulb will want to produce seeds. It puts all its energy into producing offspring. Therefore, cut the flower off after blooming. All the energy and nutrients the plant then produces will go to the bulb, making it strong enough for a new blooming season.
The tulip is the most cultivated bulb in the Netherlands. Almost half of all bulb fields (more than 12,000 hectares) are planted with tulips. (source: CBS 2016).
Plant the tulips with the pointed end facing up at a depth of about 10 cm and group them together (10-12 cm apart) for the best effect.
