Sunny location, covering in winter is always advisable in cold regions. This ornamental onion is best placed in a low ground-covering perennial border, so the flower can fully shine. Try combining it with Alchemilla mollis (lady's mantle).
The name Schubertii is a tribute to the German naturalist Gotthilf Heinrich von Schubert. The bulb originally comes from the Middle East.
