Colchicum Waterlily
3 bulbs for € 13.10
(Autumn crocus)
Very original colchicum species with beautiful double mauve flowers. The longer they stay in one place, the more beautiful they become.
The flowers become fuller and larger in size.
Plant immediately upon receipt at a depth of about 12-15 cm. Preferably in groups of 3 to 5 bulbs.
Suitable for naturalization. The bulbs produce their foliage in spring, so plant them preferably in a spot that is not mowed in spring.
There are about 100 known species, most of which are hybrids. The largest number of species can be found in the Balkans and Anatolia. The Dutch name refers to the lack of leaves during flowering. The name Colchicum is derived from Colchis, the region where the mythological poisoner Medea lived.
In France, every child has heard of Colchicums thanks to the popular children's song Colchiques dans les prés (original title Automne)
