Hyacinth Vase

3 vases for  € 6.10

Sturdy vase for growing hyacinths indoors. Can also be used as a vase for flowers.

Transparent glass. Delivered without bulb.  Note, to force hyacinths, leave them in a cold and dark place for the first few weeks.

Forcing flower bulbs for indoors:

Use bulbs of the largest size or so-called prepared bulbs. Tulips and crocuses are potted or planted in boxes, so that only the tip is above the ground. Hyacinth bulbs are placed halfway into the soil. In hyacinth glasses, the water should reach a few millimeters from the bulb. Prepared this way, all bulbs to be forced are placed in a dark and cool spot. Pots and boxes are buried under a 10 cm thick layer of peat on the north side of a wall or hedge or placed in the basement.

Place the glasses in the basement. When the bulbs are sufficiently rooted, bring them into the living room. Tulips and hyacinths should remain in the dark; crocuses can be brought to light immediately. To find out if the bulbs are sufficiently rooted, press with your thumb and index finger at the bottom of the tip that has developed from the bulb: you will clearly feel the already formed flower. If the tip feels thinner at the bottom than in the middle, the bulbs are definitely sufficiently rooted and can be brought into the living room. If the flower of hyacinths and tulips has fully emerged from the leaves, the temperature can be lowered a bit (to enjoy the flowers longer) and they can be exposed to light.
