This Martagon lily is golden yellow in color with spots.
The Martagon lily is a perennial plant that naturally grows in the mountains, in alpine meadows, and in open places in mixed deciduous and pine forests. The Martagon lily is naturally found in the Alps, the Vosges, the Black Forest, the southern Siberian taiga, and has further established itself in England and Scandinavia.
The wild Martagon lily primarily reproduces by seed and to a limited extent through the formation of new bulbs. However, the wild Martagon lily is difficult to cultivate in a garden situation. Therefore, well-cultivated hybrid descendants of this beautiful lily have been bred for garden use, in colors ranging from yellow, orange, pink, and purple to brown-red and dark red.
All these hybrid varieties obtained through breeding have the characteristic reflexed petals and dark spots on the flower petals.
In the garden, the Martagon lily blooms in June and July, reaching a flowering height of approximately 80 to 100 cm.
The Martagon lily is hardy, very suitable for naturalization, and blooms more abundantly each year.
