The striped squill is a plant from the asparagus family. It is also known as the Mishchenko squill. The plant is native to the Caucasus and southern Russia. In the 1930s, the Dutch bulb company Van Tubergen introduced this flower to gardens in Western Europe.
The plant is therefore often referred to as Scilla mischtschenkoana 'Tubergeniana'
